The main objective of the thematic network is to facilitate knowledge exchange among national research groups, which are specialized and actived in the field of image processing and multidimensional signal.

Since 2005 the network maintains its basic structure, which integrates different research groups located at different physical locations. There is a commitment to collaborate with the each of those nodes following the PRISMA guidance and recommendations. PRISMA also promotes research training and relationships with related international networks and/or groups.

PRISMA activities focus on research, training and dissemination.

The possibility of sharing resources and infrastructure is also proposed within the network to obtain a more efficient use.
